A vision of sustainable management oasis systems
the «Sustainable Oases Initiative (SOI)» is being launched by the government of Morocco during the COP22 holded in Marrakech from November 7 to 18th 2016. The aim is that oases, all over the world, can keep existing as a cradle of dryland civilizations and fulfil their multiple economic, social and environmental roles.

As part of the global Generation Green strategy, the Sustainable Oasis initiative will be present at COP28 in the United Arab Emirates to develop and propose appropriate governance and cooperation mechanisms for the implementation of the objectives of this initiative.

The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mr. Mohammed Sadiki, chaired the Moroccan delegation participating in the Ministerial Conference of date producing and processing countries, organized on 26 and 27 February 2024 in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
